Flags from the Heart
Each Memorial Day weekend, hundreds of American flags appear at Lundquist Bicentennial Park in Elkhart — each one dedicated to a veteran, a loved one, or a community hero by someone who wanted to honor them in a visible, lasting way. That’s Flags from the Heart.
About the Program
Flags from the Heart is an annual event co-organized by the Dunlap Lions Club and the Elkhart Lions Club. Sponsors purchase a dedication for a 3′ x 5′ American flag, which is displayed at Lundquist Bicentennial Park over Memorial Day weekend. The flag can be dedicated to anyone — a veteran, a family member, a friend, a first responder, or anyone whose service or memory deserves recognition.
After the weekend, sponsors may take their flag home as a keepsake, or leave it with us to be displayed again in future years.
How to Participate
- A new dedicated flag is $35
- Re-displaying a flag from a prior year is $20
Orders are placed online. The deadline to order is typically in mid-May. Watch this page for the ordering link when the campaign opens each spring.
About Memorial Day
Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. Flags from the Heart is our way of making that observance tangible — turning a national holiday into a personal act of remembrance, one flag at a time.
